While dedicating much of her life to social justice work, Taivi’s music steadily grew behind the scenes. Her influences stretch beyond classical and popular traditions into folk roots from North America, Latin America, and Scandinavia. She has also explored ancient Indonesian gamelan and choral music, all of which contribute to her songwriting.
Based in Toronto, Taivi has ancestral roots in Estonia, a country known for its historic “Singing Revolution.” That legacy runs deep in her music.
Her songs reflect a close connection to the land, living with hope, experiences of those close to her, the weight of unspoken moments, and the joy of simply being alive.
Taivi also created Beyond the Walls, a collaborative project bringing together voices, visions, and photography from communities around the world.
